Sunday 28th March 2021

Sunday 28th March 2021

It’s Palm Sunday – the Sunday before Easter and it begins what we know as Holy Week. We remember the day that the crowds celebrated Jesus riding into Jerusalem as the longed-for Saviour and King. As Jesus was carried by a donkey, a large crowd laid palm branches and their cloaks across the road, giving him a royal welcome. The people shouted, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the king of Israel!”
John 12:13 (quoting from Psalm 118:25-26).

Sung praise: Hosanna (Praise is Rising)

Singer and song writer: Paul Baloche

'Hosanna (Praise is Rising' lyrics

Praise is rising, eyes are turning to You, we turn to You
Hope is stirring, hearts are yearning for You, we long for You
'Cause when we see You, we find strength to face the day
In Your Presence all our fears are washed away, washed away

Hosanna, hosanna
You are the God Who saves us, worthy of all our praises
Hosanna, hosanna
Come have Your way among us
We welcome You here, Lord Jesus

Hear the sound of hearts returning to You, we turn to You
In Your Kingdom broken lives are made new, You make us new
'Cause when we see You, we find strength to face the day
In Your Presence all our fears are washed away, washed away

Hosanna, hosanna
You are the God Who saves us, worthy of all our praises
Hosanna, hosanna
Come have Your way among us
We welcome You here, Lord Jesus

'Cause when we see You, we find strength to face the day
In Your Presence all our fears are washed away
'Cause when we see You, we find strength to face the day
In Your Presence all our fears are washed away, washed away

Hosanna, hosanna
You are the God Who saves us, worthy of all our praises
Hosanna, hosanna
Come have Your way among us
We welcome You here, Lord Jesus
[Repeat]
Hosanna, hosanna
Hosanna, hosanna

This week on Counties Connect, Martin Erwin worked his way through the book of Jonah, noting how the Lord is God of the Second Chance.

On Thursday and Friday he reached chapter 4 – here’s Thursday’s talk, where we see why Jonah ran away:

Scripture: Jonah 4:1-11

Angus Buchan daily devotional thoughts. He’s a no-nonsense Christian from South Africa; you may enjoy his direct presentation (or not), but he always gives a strong message from a verse or two from the Bible.

  • His daily thought audios are posted here.
  • Angus posts his short video thoughts here.
In his 5-minute episode, here, Angus uses the example of Joseph to talk about how we need to be sensitive to one another and give God the glory when he blesses us.
    Angus reads: Genesis 37:4-8

Phone and pray

Pick up the phone again and cheer up someone by sharing how the Lord has blessed you both this week.
Do one better and have a video chat: you can do that with WhatsApp, Skype, or Zoom, etc.

Continue to pray for those who are struggling with poor health, loneliness, despair, or stress in their current situation. Pray that we all will learn to ‘look to the Lord’ in every situation and that the Lord will grant us his peace.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
